Public hearing on Oct 21 to reconsider landfill-to-RV-storage proposal previously denied by City Council in November 2024

Arvada City Council will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, October 21, 2025 at 6:00 PM at City Council Chambers (8100 Ralston Road) to reconsider a proposal they already denied in November 2024.

The developer is seeking to amend the Comprehensive Plan to allow conversion of a closed, unregulated 14-acre landfill at 6800 Kilmer Street into an RV storage lot. City Council rejected this comprehensive plan amendment last fall, but this hearing will reopen the application for potential approval.

Community concerns include:

  • Environmental impact on Ralston Creek and Croke Canal

  • Landfill stability and load-bearing capacity

  • Methane emissions from the closed dump

  • Compatibility with nearby residential areas (Forest Springs, GEOS, Westwoods Mesa)

  • Impact on the Ralston Creek Trail

  • Fire safety and waste disposal provisions

What residents can do:

  • Attend the public hearing on October 21 to voice your support or concerns

  • Submit written comments to City Planner Julia Duncan at JDuncan@arvada.org

  • Contact your City Council representatives
