Significant Incidents

No significant incidents were recorded by Arvada PD this reporting period. In lieu of these updates, Arvada Voices will break down some trends in the crime data from this reporting period.

In this reporting period, there were 171 crime reports, with 37 reports filed through the non-emergency phone and online submittal service. Of these reports, theft, fraud, and drug paraphernalia made up the majority of reports (81 combined reports). Theft was up 48%, drug related crime was up 13%, and fraud was up 108% from last week. 72 arrests were made during this reporting period, 30 of which were taken into custody while 42 were released on summons. There is no information related to what crimes resulted in arrests, which could better inform future analyses of crime in Arvada.

From March 24-30, there were 71 calls for service related to homeless individuals or issues, a 39% increase from the previous week. 13 were unwanted party calls related to homelessness, making up 42% of all unwanted party calls this week. Similarly, 22% of all calls related to disturbances were related to homeless individuals. In previous weeks, CORE made an average of 25 contacts per week with an average resource acceptance rate of 32% (8 people/week). Year to date, CORE has reported 250 contacts, 115 resources offered*, and 39 resources accepted. The organization has also reported issuing 54 citations for trespassing, 100 verbal warnings, 14 arrests, and 25 jailed for warrants. 40% of all contacts resulted in warnings, while 37% of all contacts resulted in a citation or arrest.

Based on this, we can assume that the majority of calls from citizens related to homelessness remain unaddressed and could serve as a point of growth for the City of Arvada in their response to homelessness, and the vast majority (68%) of those contacted by CORE do not accept help offered to them, possibly because the same organization is also responsible for issuing citations and arrests, which makes up 6% of all arrests so far in 2025. Calls for service and crime related to homelessness have been rising in the last few weeks, highlighting a critical need the City of Arvada must address. It is crucial for the City to address these issues proactively to prevent further harm to businesses and residents, as numerous business owners and residents have reported during recent City Council Meetings.
