Significant Incidents

Woman Sets Fires Near Homes, Escapes by Bus


On March 10, 2025, at 1:49 pm, multiple 911 calls reported a woman starting fires on a park bench near 60th Ave and Kipling Pkwy. The flames spread rapidly, causing significant damage to landscaping and a parked box truck before Arvada Fire extinguished them. The suspect fled before officers arrived, and a K-9 track led to a bus stop where she likely boarded a bus to leave the area. Investigators identified her through prior police contact and witness descriptions. The investigation is ongoing. (AR25004090)


DUI Crash Damages Building in Olde Town


On March 11, 2025, at 6:17 pm, an orange Ford Mustang lost control while attempting a power slide on Ralston Rd in Olde Town, crashing into the front porch of GB Fish & Chips. Two occupants fled but were later located, one with minor injuries and the driver, showing signs of intoxication, was cited for DUI and other charges. A third suspect attempted to falsely report the Mustang as stolen. Due to structural damage, the building was condemned pending further structural integrity analysis. (AR25004196)


Suspect Arrested After Stolen Vehicle Pursuit


On March 11, 2025, at 9:34 pm, an officer received a FLOCK alert for a stolen vehicle in a Target parking lot at 5071 Kipling St. The driver fled at high speed when officers attempted a stop, crashing into a median and disabling a front tire. The suspect then ran but was apprehended after a foot chase and Taser deployment. He was transported to the hospital before being booked on multiple charges, including vehicle theft, eluding, possession of a controlled substance, and obstruction. (AR25004203)


Shots Fired at Large House Party, Juvenile Assaults Officer


On March 16, at 12:25 am, officers responded to reports of gunfire at a house party, arriving to find people fleeing in cars and on foot. Shell casings were found in the street, but partygoers refused to cooperate, and officers were not able to contact the homeowners. While securing the scene, officers attempted to stop a juvenile with a bottle of vodka, who then swung at officers and was detained. He was transported to the hospital and will face charges of obstruction and minor in possession of alcohol. (AR25004434, AR25004435, AR25004437)

The CORE team focuses on issues in the community related to homelessness. They respond to calls involving homeless people, proactively offer resources, and conduct enforcement when other support methods are not effective.
