Significant Incidents

Suspect Caught Hiding in Dumpster After Fleeing Traffic Stop


On March 17, 2025, at 12:47 am, an Arvada officer conducted a traffic stop near 51st Ave and Kipling St. During the stop, a passenger fled on foot and was later found hiding in a dumpster by K9 officers. The passenger had a felony warrant for parole violation related to motor vehicle theft and eluding. A search of the vehicle uncovered 94 fentanyl pills and methamphetamine. Both the passenger and driver were booked into Jefferson County Jail on multiple drug and obstruction charges. (AR25004487)


Domestic Assault Suspect Arrested After Standoff


On March 19, 2025, a woman reported that her ex-boyfriend had assaulted her and stolen her Jeep. The suspect, who was recently released from prison, had a no-bond felony parole violation warrant. The next morning, at 7:43 am, officers located the stolen Jeep and confirmed the suspect was inside a nearby apartment. After setting up containment and utilizing a K9 team, the suspect surrendered without incident. A loaded handgun was found inside the stolen Jeep. He was booked for multiple charges, including assault, motor vehicle theft, and possession of a weapon by a previous offender. (AR25004606)


DUI Suspect Flees from Officers at McDonald's Drive-Thru


On March 21, 2025, at 9:26 am, officers responded to a report of a disoriented driver at a McDonald's drive-thru at 5235 Wadsworth Bypass. Officers initiated a traffic stop and the driver stopped in the middle of traffic on Wadsworth Bypass. Officers led the driver out of traffic to a sidewalk nearby to conduct a DUI investigation, but the suspect fled on foot through traffic. Officers pursued and took him into custody in the median of Wadsworth. He later admitted to stealing the vehicle from a neighbor and  was booked on charges of driving under the influence of drugs and motor vehicle theft. (AR25004712)


Intoxicated Driver Found Unresponsive at Gas Station


On March 22, 2025, at 1:30 am, officers responded to a report of a man passed out behind the wheel of a vehicle at the Circle K gas station located at 9989 W 80th Ave. The driver had reportedly been unresponsive for 90 minutes. After multiple attempts to wake him, officers breached a vehicle window and were eventually able to get him to exit. He showed signs of intoxication, and evidence of recent fentanyl use was found in the vehicle. He was arrested for DUI. (AR25004779)


Hazmat Concern at Burglary Scene in Metal Plating Facility


On March 22, 2025, at 12:35 pm, officers responded to a burglary in progress at a metal plating and finishing facility located near 6100 W 54th Ave. Officers found evidence of forced entry and began searching the 50,000-square-foot facility. However, they quickly exited after detecting a strong chemical odor and spotting hazardous materials, including vats of steaming chemicals, and evidence of a possible acid spill. Arvada Fire and the Fire Marshal were notified, and the facility’s owner is assessing potential losses. (AR25004800)
