Significant Incidents

Auto Theft and Menacing Leads to Arrest


On April 15, 2025, at 4:11 a.m., a food delivery driver reported that his vehicle had been stolen while delivering food to an apartment near 5300 Carr Street. After witnessing suspicious behavior from a man at the apartment, the victim confronted him and was threatened with a handgun. Later that morning at 9:22 a.m., officers located the stolen vehicle occupied and parked at the same location. One female suspect was taken into custody without incident and faces multiple felony charges. (AR25006276)


Domestic Violence Arrest Following Foot Pursuit


On April 15, 2025, at 3:16 p.m., officers responded to a domestic violence report and found a victim with visible facial injuries. The suspect left the area and officers located him nearby, but he ran from them. After a brief chase, he was apprehended and booked into the Jefferson County Jail on multiple charges including domestic violence, resisting arrest, obstruction, menacing, and attempting to influence a public official. Murder Plea Entered in 2023 Case


On April 16, 2025, Bennett Polhamus-Cousland pled guilty to second-degree murder as originally charged in a 2023 homicide case. The plea agreement includes a sentencing range of 16 to 28 years. Formal sentencing is scheduled for June 17, 2025. (AR23009203)


Newspaper Delivery Driver Shot At While Working


On April 20, 2025, at 2:59 a.m., a man arrived at Arvada Fire Station 1 reporting he had been shot in the back of the head. The victim was delivering newspapers and noticed a silver SUV following him. As he traveled north on Carr Street, his rear driver-side window shattered. Although a bullet passed through the headrest, he was not hit; his injuries came from the broken glass. The investigation is on-going. (AR25006595)

Community Outreach Resources Enforcement (CORE)

The CORE team focuses on issues in the community related to homelessness. They respond to calls involving homeless people, proactively offer resources, and conduct enforcement when other support methods are not effective.
